Best Skate Memories

Whether you were in the rink on your way to the beach, what are your favorite skating memories?
One of my favorite memories was the day I switched wheels from wide speed wheels to wooden Flo Macs. My first foot on the floor was a near disaster! It took a while to regain speed control (I still have to be careful now), but EVERYTHING else was so much easier! Twists, turns, spins, stopping (sliding): effortless. It was scary to change my wheels so drastically, but so well worth it!

thank you for helping to clear up some really "interesting" notions about wider wheels vs. smaller wheels; that was so on point!

My personal Fav moment...well, after almost 40 years of doing "this", I've got a few. But one of my more recent standouts deals with my skating class. I'm always tickled to see folks "get it", mastering their own fears and looking up one day and saying "Wow, I'm doing it!"

One of the recent graduates from our program was Cathy E. Loving. Cathy's story is an inspiration in itself! But in a nutshell, Cathy is 60 years old (our eldest Graduate), and a Breast Cancer Survivor! She has rods in her spine from a serious car accident, and has been diagnosed with MS. Amidst some other life-shattering challenges, Cathy took it upon herself to learn how to skate, and did it in less than 3 months! She was always incredibly optimistic, and motivational to other new skaters. Her personal achievement to master roller skating despite her obstacles stands out as one of my best skate memories!
